CEO Job Description
A 5-year fixed term contract is available for a Chief Executive Officer to lead a well-established company in the Transportation industry in Pretoria.
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will drive strategic planning and implementation to achieve short and long-term objectives, ensuring the company's vision and mission are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of professionals, including an executive team, technical team, and non-technical team.
- Build trust relations with key partners and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement business strategies and tactical plans to ensure alignment with short and long-term objectives.
- Ensure legislative compliance in all aspects of business management.
- Manage a customer-centric company providing year-round transit service to customers daily, emphasizing safety, security, cost efficiency, and on-time performance.
- Lead the development of the company's strategy and oversee its implementation.
- Ensure the company has adequate resources to undertake its mandate.
- Compile and manage operating and capital budgets.
- Assess and manage principal risks.
- Ensure effective internal controls and Management Information systems are in place.
- Interact and communicate with employees, passengers, the public, elected officials, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of corporate citizenship and social responsibility.
Requirements:
- Postgraduate qualification in transport management, planning, economics, engineering, business management, or equivalent.
- MBA/MBL is an added advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Chief Executive Officer or a Leader operating in a strategic position.
- Deep knowledge of relevant transport-related policies, legislations, and regulations.
- Experience in the transportation/transit industry.
- Experience in managing Senior Managers in diverse business functions.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Computer literacy in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrate an appreciation for public transport operations, including the Taxi industry.
- Ability to comply with the standards of conduct of the Director as prescribed by the Companies Act 71 of 2008.
- Ability to communicate on behalf of the Company to Shareholders, employees, stakeholders, and the public.
