Job DescriptionHead of Operations
£85k + package
Job Role
o To assume full responsibility for all operational functions related to the UK business organisation
o Delivery of Management EBIT from UK Operational team
o Be accountable for delivery of all Operational and Finance Metrics and ensure delivery from Branch Management team
o Delivery of Country GP reporting monthly, and agree Flash figures with Senior Management Team
o To prepare the annual budgets in collaboration with Finance and Commercial teams, and to held accountable for delivering through P&L and Commercial Management
o To identify trends within the business, and actively develop solutions for maintaining positive
momentum or correcting negative patterns
o To continually review and streamline working processes to enable best practice with lowest
resource/financial impact
o To work in conjunction with sales in development and retention of all accounts
o To ensure profitability of accounts is maximised and loss making accounts are challenged and
addressed
o To work with finance department both on payables and receivables to resolve issues
o To be involved in implementation of new business to ensure correct processes are in place prior to movement of goods to maintain service credibility
o To conduct face to face meetings with all staff for appraisal process and hold ongoing discussions with open issues
o To assist on operations in peak times so a requirement to have hands-on working knowledge of multi-modal processes
o To ensure all customer issues are resolved in a timely and professional manner
o Establish a training needs schedule and ensure delivery is met
o Talent Management and Development within existing workforce
o To negotiate contract rates in accordance with business needs to ensure that economies of scale are met and best prices achieved for the Company and/or Client
o To perform any other duties not defined in the job description as reasonably requested / expected by the Company
Customer Service
To be customer facing and identify new business opportunities within existing sales portfolio of services o To ensure all staff who deal with customers are consistently delivering excellent customer service, and go the extra mile whenever required o To ensure “Best in Class” customer service is delivered at all times by all UK Operational personnel
Job Specific Tasks
o To ensure growth and progress in line with Company strategy in a multi modal environment, in
collaboration with all key stakeholder functions (Operations, Sales, Finance, HR, Product) within the UK,
Region and Global Network
o To build an effective team and lead the Operational area of the UK business, modelling our core values
o Effectively contribute to the Senior Management Team
o Delivery of the UK Operational Strategy

Job Role Essentials
Technical
o Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Multi-site Management position, with a proven track record in
Branch and Financial Management
o Hands-on current experience in air import/export and sea import/export
o Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent (minimum of 5)
o Ability and confidence to deal with difficult customers if the need arises
o Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a timely manner
Business
o IT literate (ability to utilise MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, etc)
o Commercial awareness is essential in this role from Key Account involvement to new business sales
o Knowledge of Cargowise Operating System would be an advantage
o Effective Time Management skills
o Effective organisational skills with significant focus on attention to detail
o Ability to effectively communicate at all levels both internally and with clients
