Key Purpose
Understanding the business requirements, and through a structured process documenting, validating, and translating it into functional specifications that are used by developers to craft a technical solution. Testing and validating the functionality of the technical solution against the business requirements. Interfacing between the business client and the development team with regards to the business and functional requirements. Ensuring that the business requirements are delivered in the implemented solution. Working with multiple business areas and multiple teams that require deep integration of solutions. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and acting as a consultant on the application.
Areas of Responsibility may include but are not limited to:
- Conduct analysis to elicit and understand business needs to produce business requirements for system development.
- Document user-interface, reporting, and process enhancements for business process improvement and systems enhancement initiatives, using the Enterprise Architect tool.
- Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in accordance with standards for IQS (Intelligence Quality System).
- Conduct root cause analysis and investigation of production defects to ensure that Discovery Life systems operate efficiently.
- Review test plans to ensure that the business requirements are tested effectively.
- Assist the Senior Business Analyst/Business Architect in compiling the business case for new business initiatives to be considered for addition to the roadmap.
- Conduct Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions with stakeholders and present solutions for business process improvement and systems enhancement initiatives.
- Report and provide regular updates on progress to stakeholders to manage delivery of business initiatives.
- Adhere to established standards of business process mapping (BPM) and Enterprise Architecture (EA) tool for business process improvement and/or systems development.
- Adhere to the agreed System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for systems development.
- Collaborate, negotiate, and coordinate with various stakeholders to produce and obtain sign-off of business requirements documents and business case documents to ensure business processes are developed and improved.
Education and Experience
Essential:
- Matric
- IT degree or diploma
- 3 – 4 years of working experience as a business analyst
Advantageous:
- Relevant qualification in Business Analysis
- Minimum 2 years Business Analysis experience within the Financial Services and/or Insurance Industry
