Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Corporate Lawyer to provide legal guidance and support to our small business. The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate law, contract negotiation, and compliance. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our company's legal integrity and helping us navigate the complexities of business law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Formation: Advise on legal structures and assist with the formation of the company.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts (client agreements, vendor contracts, etc.).
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
- Intellectual Property: Assist in protecting intellectual property rights, including trademarks and copyrights.
- Employment Law: Provide guidance on employment contracts, employee rights, and workplace policies.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage disputes through negotiation and, if necessary, litigation.
- Taxation: Offer advice on tax obligations and potential benefits.
- Risk Management: Identify legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Qualifications:
- LLB degree from a South African university.
- Admitted attorney with the Legal Practice Council.
- 4-6 years of corporate law experience, preferably in retail or manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of South African contract law.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the furniture or retail industry.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with employment law best practices.
