Key Responsibilities:
- Incentive Opportunity Identification: Research and identify public sector incentive programs, based on their industry, projects, and geographical location.
- Financial Impact Analysis: Analyse the potential financial benefits of public sector incentives on business operations, including profitability, cash flow, and long-term growth.
- Client Advisory & Consultation: Provide strategic financial advice to private companies on how to best leverage public sector incentives for business expansion, innovation, and sustainability projects.
- Grant & Funding Applications: Assist clients in the preparation and submission of applications for government grants and other funding opportunities. Ensure all required documentation, including business plans, financial forecasts, and compliance reports, is accurate and complete.
- Public-Private Alignment: Ensure client projects align with government economic development priorities
- Policy & Compliance Advisory: Advise clients on regulatory requirements and compliance
- Cost-Benefit Analysis: Conduct comprehensive cost-benefit analyses for businesses to evaluate the long-term value
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and manage risks associated with public sector incentives, including financial, legal, and operational risks, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between clients and government bodies, facilitating discussions, negotiations, and relationship-building to ensure smooth participation in incentive programs.
- Financial Reporting & Auditing Support: Provide support in preparing financial reports and audits related to public sector funding. Help clients meet all post-award reporting requirements.
- Strategic Program Optimization: Recommend strategies to maximize participation in public-private incentive programs, including structuring projects to qualify for a broader range of incentives.
- Market & Industry Insight: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, government policies, and economic developments that impact public sector incentive programs and opportunities for private sector clients.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Public Policy, or related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, FMVA)
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in public-private finance advisory, government incentives, public policy consulting, or similar fields. Experience in working with public sector programs that support private sector growth is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Expertise in navigating public sector incentive programs, including grants, tax credits, and subsidies.
- Familiarity with financial reporting tools and data analytics platforms.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills for evaluating the financial impact of incentive programs and assessing the risk/benefit trade-offs for clients.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex financial and policy issues for both private sector clients and government stakeholders.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple advisory engagements simultaneously, working under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, particularly in financial analysis, application preparation, and compliance documentation.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build strong relationships with both public sector agencies and private sector clients, navigating between different interests and goals.
