Purpose of Role
Reporting to the CFO, this role will have responsibility for oversight of the operation of the Finance team, working alongside the Head of FP&A. It will be a wide-ranging role reflecting the start-up nature of the organisation.
Key Accountabilities
- Day to day management of the finance team including production of monthly management accounts with detailed variance analysis against forecasts
- Establish a strong working relationship with professional advisers, most notably external auditors, ensuring efficient delivery of financial reporting requirements
- Oversight of taxation requirements
- Design and maintenance of a strong financial control environment
- Control of costs through cost centre management and business partnering with the wider organisation
- Establish and document accounting policies appropriate for the organisation in accordance with UK GAAP (with a focus on IAS39 for financial instruments)
- Build the capability and size of the finance function in line with growth in transaction volumes and size and complexity of the balance sheet
- Production of technical accounting papers for Board Audit Committee
- Finance business partnering and senior stakeholder management, liaising with senior operational stakeholders.
- Integration of the general ledger system for the company providing timely management reporting for the business as well as cost centre management
- Design and build of models for the calculation of technical balance sheet provisions such as effective interest rate adjustments
- Establish a robust payments model including relationships with Swift and primary bank providers
- Implementation of BoE facilities within the Sterling monetary framework
- Independent review of regulatory reporting to PRA and FCA
- Management of all statutory, regulatory and statistical reporting across the bank, including the annual report and accounts
- Support the balance sheet management of the bank through capital, funding and liquidity reporting and contribution to ICAAP, ILAAP and RRP.
- Ownership of the finance risk register, monitoring of risks and the design and testing of key mitigating controls
- Deputise for the CFO as required
Key Skills and Experience

Key Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in a similar role in financial services
- ACA/ACCA qualified with a preference or audit experience within financial services
- Strong technical accounting experience including ISA39
- Proven track record of building, developing and managing teams
- Considerable knowledge and experience of best practice finance management
- Good communicator with the ability to influence and motivate others
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex
- information to identify the key issue/action and drive resolution
- A willingness to face new challenges and responsibilities working as part of a team within a busy, evolving finance function
