Minimum Requirements:
Education:
BSc, BTech or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry and/or proven years of laboratory, knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning
Grade 12 / Matric or N3 with Mathematics and Science as subjects
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory
Able to perform various chemical techniques
Computer Literate (Microsoft Office)
Experience in instrumentation, data collection and reporting
Fully acquainted with the SLIMS system (administration & operation)
Additional Information:
Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Management System
Must be able to do troubleshooting on instruments and methods used

Duties / Responsibilities:
Log received samples onto the system using work orders from the client
Print sample labels
Sample Testing
Ensure samples are sorted correctly before labelling and boxing the samples
Follow all quality directives of this Department
Operation of laboratory instrumentation and housekeeping is in order
Lab equipment safety and care
Bring all problems (technical and managerial) to the attention of the Metallurgist or the National Sales Manager
Adhere to all quality, health and safety rules and regulations
Ensure that the housekeeping in the receiving area as well as the QC Lab is in order
Complies and conforms to Laboratory Quality Management System (ISO9001)
Must be able to help with the preparation of audits
Record any day-to-day repairs, maintenance, calibration and verification of instruments
Work in other areas and/or Divisions if asked to do so
Participate and form part of Operational Integrity projects and campaigns
Apply Check status process and use the Stop Work Authority whenever the control of risks is not clearly established and
understood
Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the DZA management system
Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager
