Job Description
A boutique collection of owner-operated safari lodges requires the services of a Financial Accountant to work flexible hours Monday - Friday 08h00 - 14h00 on a hybrid basis. The main responsibility would be to take ownership of the full accounting function up to trial balance of the lodge this role is assigned to, and to act as a link between the financial activities of the lodge and the operational head office.
Reporting to the Operations Finance Team and Group Financial Controller your duties will be as follows:
- Processing and reconciliation of debtors accounts - invoices and receipts (one major debtor).
- Processing all cash book receipts which do not fall under debtors above.
- Processing and reconciliation of creditors' accounts - invoices, payments, and statement reconciliation.
- Managing accounts payable clerk.
- Processing all cash book payments such as ad-hoc expenses which do not fall under creditors above.
- Reconciliation of all cashbook accounts.
- Processing of all stock receipts.
- Processing general ledger entries where directed.
- Processing entries relating to the purchase and disposal of assets as well as monthly depreciation journal.
- Processing payroll journals.
- Full bookkeeping to Trial Balance.
- Preparation of the Balance Sheet Reconciliation as directed.
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly Management Accounts.
- Loading of bank payments as directed.
- Prepare information required for cash flow planning.
- Cash flow control.
- Assist with the annual audit.
- Perform the annual compliance (annual returns, liquor licenses, etc.).
- VAT and EMP201, EMP501 returns.
- Monthly Tourism Survey Submission.
- Assist with taxation and any other tax/statutory submissions as required.
- Assist with the annual insurance policy renewals, plus, any ad-hoc requirement for which you have the skill and experience.
- Accurate, consistent, and timely capturing of data into accounting and stock systems.
- Complete and accurate financial records and statutory compliance.
- Quality reporting to relevant business stakeholders.
- Stock management, control and confirming of stock on system.
Requirements - Matric with Maths
- Diploma or Degree in accounting
- At least 4 years' experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities
- Organised, with methodical and thorough approach to work
- Attention to detail
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Enthusiastic, confident and team player
- Capable of working with remote teams

- Microsoft Office applications
- Stock management software experience (essential)
- Sage Business online (preferable)
Benefits - 08:00am to 14:00pm (6 hours a day)
- Hybrid hours (2 days in-office and 3 days from home)
- You may be required to travel to the lodge on an ad-hoc basis, which is based in Overberg area.
