The Company
Urban Legend is a science led sweet bakery brand looking to disrupt the category by proving that you can take the junk out of junk food. Born out of the premise that in order to really shift the dial on consumer health we need to reformulate zero or low compromise alternatives to the things people want rather than expecting them to choose to change behaviours we have developed a doughnut (the poster boy for bad nutrition) with less calories, less sugar and less fat whilst increasing fibre and using no artificial colours or flavours and now sell in over 150 locations across the London and South East.
The Opportunity
Having quickly scaled the number of sites we are stocked in you will play a pivotal role in determining the supply forecast on a daily basis. We operate a concession model primarily in Tesco and Sainsbury’s stores and are responsible for deciding the range, quantity and mix of our products to each of them. Each store has its own individual quirks – some sell more boxed format products than others, some are impacted more by seasonal events (school holidays), others see different customer mix at the weekends or perhaps much less demand if in an office area. Utilising data to help refine, codify and test different hypothesis on how we can maximise sales performance and minimise waste.
Working in the head office and reporting into the CFO/CCO you will work closely with our retail director as we look expand our distribution as well as a close link to our Supply team as you will own the short term forecast dictating our weekly production plans, labour requirements etc. giving you great insight and visibility across the whole organisation.
You will also help deliver insights on performance and publish KPI’s on critical metrics like sales, fulfilment and waste. As a startup we understand the importance of data and analysis within the organisation and have several big step change moves planned across the coming months as well as significant store expansion all of which will require the individual in this role to be top of their game.
You’re the kind of person that isn’t panicked by last minute change; you’ll be able to think on your feet and adapt to any situation that’s thrown your way. Your exceptional communication skills will come in handy when you’re required to communicate any issues and discuss test results and insights.
We’re on the lookout for the kind of person that loves getting their hands dirty and building things from the ground up. Flexibility is key - if you like a varied role, you’ll love helping with the day-to-day management of our forecast, jumping in where you’re needed.
You’ll definitely be able to quickly build relationships with both our internal teams both in our demand side of the business and in our manufacturing and logistics operations. Anthony our founder is very hands on and you are likely to work closely on a number of projects.
You’re obsessed with detail and are likely to enjoy developing new hypothesis, testing them and iterating. Developing new ways to make processes more robust and solving problems as well as nailing the day to day responsibilities that are key to the business.
