MacGregor Black are partnering with a Premium Fashion Brand in the search for a Head of Buying. This is a permanent role based in London.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the overall buying strategy aligned with the brand’s vision and market position.
- Analyse market trends, customer preferences, and sales data to forecast demand and plan product assortments.
- Collaborate with design, marketing, and sales teams to align product offerings with brand strategy and business objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure the best quality, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers that meet the brand’s standards for quality and innovation.
- Curate a product mix that enhances the brand’s premium positioning and meets the needs of our clientele.
- Oversee the selection of fabrics, materials, and accessories to ensure the highest standards of quality and exclusivity.
- Ensure a balanced range of products that caters to both bespoke and ready-to-wear collections.
- Monitor inventory levels to optimize stock and reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
- Implement inventory management strategies to ensure timely availability of products.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to manage stock movements and warehousing.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the buying team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Set clear performance objectives and provide regular feedback and evaluations.
- Encourage innovation and creativity within the team to drive the brand forward.
- Prepare and manage the buying budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement practices.
- Monitor financial performance and implement measures to achieve sales and profit targets.
- Provide regular reports and analysis on buying activities and financial outcomes to the senior management team.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in buying, with at least 5 years in a senior buying role within the premium menswear industry.
- Strong knowledge of the premium fashion market, tailoring processes, and high-end fabrics and materials.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful buying strategies.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen.
- Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite).
