Forsyth Barnes have partnered with a large Energy business within the UK that are looking to recruit an experienced Procurement professionals with over 10 years of expertise to contribute to a UK-based procurement team. The role involves strategic sourcing, tendering, negotiation, and contract management across innovative, sustainable energy solutions.
This position focuses on delivering decentralised, green, and interconnected solutions for B2B and B2C clients. The categories covered include Electric Vehicle networks, Low Carbon Heating, Solar PV, Highways Lighting, City Decarbonisation projects, and large-scale energy initiatives such as Solar PV, Heat Pumps, Wind, and Battery projects. Procurement plays a key role in driving these sustainability efforts.
Senior Category Manager - Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic partner to senior decision-makers, aligning business needs with the supply market to open competitive supply channels.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned categories, ensuring they are aligned with business goals and deliver maximum value.
- Collaborate with technical and business experts to identify and implement innovative solutions across categories.
- Understand market dynamics to mitigate risks, develop strategic partnerships, and drive innovation.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing processes, from demand analysis to supplier implementation, in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Identify and achieve savings, value creation, and efficiency targets across assigned categories and areas.
- Provide commercial and contractual guidance to ensure risks are mitigated, and corrective actions are implemented where necessary.
Senior Category Manager - Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in relevant commercial roles, with MCIPS qualification or working towards it being desirable but not essential.
- Comfortable taking calculated risks and challenging conventional approaches.
- Able to tailor communication to various audiences, from board members to operational teams.
- Open to new technologies and digital advancements, always seeking to improve processes.
- Ability to align tactical plans with short and long-term goals.
- Strong understanding of stakeholder needs, delivering maximum value.
