Position Overview
As a Cost Estimator - Production, you will play a crucial role in analyzing and estimating the costs associated with our manufacturing operations, ensuring accurate budgeting and efficient resource allocation.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Analyze Production Processes: Conduct thorough examinations of our manufacturing processes, including raw material acquisition, labor requirements, equipment usage, and overhead expenses.
- Cost Estimation: Utilize quantitative methods and cost estimation techniques to determine the expenses associated with each phase of production. This includes forecasting material costs, labor expenses, equipment maintenance, and any other relevant expenditures.
- Data Analysis: Collect, organize, and analyze data from various sources, such as historical cost records, supplier quotations, industry benchmarks, and internal production metrics. Interpret data trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and potential risks.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with cross-functional teams including production managers, engineers, procurement specialists, and finance professionals to gather insights and validate cost estimates. Collaborate on developing strategies to optimize production costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Cost Reporting: Prepare comprehensive cost reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management. Provide regular updates on cost variances, cost drivers, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for process improvement and cost optimization within the production workflow. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline operations and enhance cost efficiency.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies governing cost estimation and procurement practices. Identify and mitigate potential risks that may impact production costs or project timelines.
Job Requirements
- Qualification in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst) is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Cost Estimator, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. Familiarity with mining equipment manufacturing is advantageous.
- Proficiency in cost estimation methodologies, statistical analysis, and financial modeling techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments and levels of the organization.
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) and cost estimation software/tools.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a high degree of accuracy and precision in cost calculations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
