We’re looking for a skilled Linux administrator to support our German partner company in expanding their global footprint.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Linux servers to ensure high performance and security.
- Analyze and resolve reported system problems.
- Build, configure, and manage Linux servers.
- Apply patches and updates as necessary.
- Document hardware and configuration changes.
- Contribute suggestions for improvement.
- Collaborate with local and remote colleagues.
Education and Experience:
- At least 3 years of post-secondary studies in Information Technology.
- At least 2 years of experience administering Linux systems.
Core Technical Skills/Experience:
- Experience installing, configuring, updating, administering, and troubleshooting various Linux distributions (e.g. SUSE/SLES, Rocky, RedHat, Debian).
Additional Technical Skills/Experience:
- Virtualization technologies (e.g. Proxmox, VMWare, Hyper-V).
- Scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Perl, Python).
- IaC and lifecycle management tools (e.g. Foreman, Katello, Puppet, Ansible).
- DevOps technologies and tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Portainer, Rancher, Jenkins, Git).
- Software development background, or software industry experience.

Schedule and Working Conditions:
- Weekdays, excluding South African holidays.
- Generally normal business hours, with occasional scheduled after-hours work.
- On-call duty may be required.
- All/most work will be done remotely from our office here in Port Elizabeth.
- There may be occasional opportunities to travel.
