Title: User Experience Writer and Content Designer
Location: London; 3 days a week in office Tues, Wed, Thurs, 2 days WFH
Duration: 6 months
Responsibilities:
Advocate for UX
Help gain support for user experiences through principled and well-reasoned or data-driven UX writing and content design choices, and identify challenges and questions.
Create design solutions and deliverables
Help create innovative UX writing and content design solutions to defined user, product, and business problems. Adapt to evolving writing and design constraints and communicate rationale of choices related to solutions.
Design analysis and iteration
Iteratively improve UX writing and content design based on UX testing and stakeholder input, and help provide input and feedback to engage stakeholders on product writing and design to achieve product goals, with minimal guidance.
Design execution
Apply or adapt UX writing and content design frameworks for user experiences, including principles, patterns, and systems. Leverage standard writing and design tools to help visualize ideas or develop mock-ups or prototypes. Tailor deliverables to product or platform requirements with minimal guidance. Identify and follow design templates, style guides, and accessibility guidelines.
Design for impact
Help create UX writing and content design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry trends that further business objectives.
Design for user needs
Create concepts for informing product ideation and/or user research/testing or conduct research with minimal guidance to inform UX writing and content design.
Design process and vision
Establish a holistic UX writing and content design processes, systems, frameworks or patterns within a team or product, and assist in performing design and testing processes with minimal guidance.
Plan and prioritize
Plan and prioritize own design work in alignment with larger project goals. Identify opportunities to expand responsibilities within the immediate product team. Collaborate with others to help identify opportunities to improve Product Excellence for all users, such as localization and accessibility.
Understand the product
Use and help propose key data and metrics to evaluate product impact. Understand the product ecosystem, user trends, and industry (e.g., competitors) by collaborating within the team when developing design solutions.
Understand user needs
Analyze or anticipate user needs, pain points, or gaps in language comprehension. Through collaboration with others, identify defined problems and highlight possible solutions within the constraints of strategy, product, or technology.
Skills/Experience:
Content design
Ability to define, design, and create content-focused user experiences, such as frameworks and patterns that help content scale, ensure quality, and deliver information for specific user needs and markets.
Craftsmanship
Ability to make design decisions that result in a coherent product, platform, or user experience, including the ability to question and assess execution, craft, longevity, and scale of designs.
Data-driven design
Ability to analyze information, draw conclusions, generate alternatives and solutions, and evaluate outcomes. This includes the ability to use data to add value to business planning and strategies.
Design sensibility
Ability to make design decisions that increase intuitive use and comprehension, which may be based on relevant research, trends, and the appropriate application of the brand and voice.
Industry & interactive technology
Knowledge of the changing landscape of the industry, product areas, other key players, and/or markets, which may include technology trends and issues that affect how users interact with software systems.
Information architecture
Ability to contextually structure, organize, and disclose information in a way that helps users navigate through a complex task or discover the information they're looking for.
Presentations
Ability to prepare effective presentations in content and function, and to speak competently to the level of the audience.
Product design
Knowledge of product design principles and user-centric processes.
Product development lifecycle
Knowledge of the overall process for developing products. This includes knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of engineering and other functions, major phases, checkpoints, and deliverables. This also includes the ability to identify common issues and considerations for delivering a product.
Software systems thinking
Ability to analyze situations or problems at the system level or from a broader technical or organizational perspective. This includes the ability to consider how factors or components in a system interrelate and work over time within the context of larger systems.
Storytelling
Ability to influence and inspire an audience by crafting stories using data that elicit empathy or create buy-in.
UX research methodology
Knowledge of principles and methods for defining and measuring UX, and the ability to adapt UX research methods to the appropriate user interface and platform.
UX writing
Ability to craft intuitive user-facing language, effective information hierarchy, and scalable frameworks that appeal to and guide a diverse global audience while also adapting to the needs, voice, tone, and constraints of the product at hand.
User behavior
Knowledge of behavioral characteristics of users and their goals with regards to the problem being solved. This includes the knowledge of how user behavior informs product design and development.
