The Dairy Application Technologist II will report to the Technical C&A Manager Sub-Saharan Africa and will primarily handle medium potential projects (guideline; may vary based on business need) for Star & Strategic accounts aligned to Global.
Major Responsibilities:
- Independently work on star & strategic accounts with medium project potential.
- Align global accounts.
- Select & recommend appropriate flavor solutions in compliance with client profile, legal, cost & stability requirements.
- Know well the end product production process.
- Visit clients and present flavor solutions and new technologies.
- Partner with Senior Food Technologists on regional/global briefs.
- Work in close collaboration with Sales/Marketing, Flavorists, S&CI, GRA & other departments to support project execution.
- Participate in category initiatives &/or new concept generation.
- Establish time & project management skills.
- Engage management to obtain appropriate resource or expertise.
- Develop & improve application formulations using knowledge of industrial standards, country-specific & client requirements.
- Build clear knowledge of customer and competitive brands.
- Work with plant to complete the successful scale-up production, providing solutions with QA, QC when necessary.
- Maintain & continuously renovate application-specific recipe database.
- Develop applications to maximize flavor performance.
- Provide flavor-driven solutions utilizing creative problem-solving skills.
- Review, renew & renovate Flavor Bank in-line with established metrics.
- Build flavor attribute/language knowledge & articulate with others in the team/on projects.
- Proficient in COMPANYMan & recipe database.
- Establish creativity, innovation & presentation skills.
- Share knowledge with the team & provide guidance to Trainee, Junior & Associate food technologists.
- Establish interdepartmental networks/relationships (outside own functional area).
- Develop strong relationships with strategic/star customers and related categories.
- Support & implement the C&A strategy in Star & Strategic projects.
- Have a clear understanding & execution of COMPANY processes.
- Engage with key customer brands/products and consumer preferences of the assigned segments/category.
Required Skills:
- Minimum entry level is a BS degree in Food Science, Chemistry & Biochemistry or related disciplines.
- Knowledge in food safety and food regulations preferred.
- Effective team player with excellent communication skills.
- Be able to pass an COMPANY internal sensory and discriminative organoleptic skills test.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 7 to 10 years’ experience in industrial food, pharmaceutical, ingredient or flavor industry.
- Minimum 4 years in the specific field of expertise.
