Requirements:
- Matric plus NQF 7 in Electrical Engineering, Energy Planning and Sustainability with a background in Economics, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation or relevant field of study.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience at a middle managerial level working in the Energy field.
- The recommended candidate will be required to produce his/her SMS Pre-entry certificate as offered by the National School of Governance (NSG) prior to the appointment being made.

Duties:
- Manage the implementation of the Gauteng Energy Security Strategy.
- Co-ordinate investor, municipal and sector departments initiatives in renewable and sustainable energy projects.
- Manage the development of financial models for renewable and sustainable energy projects.
- Manage the optimal use of available energy resources and the long-term sustainability of the province’s energy sector.
- Manage the promotion of accessibility to clean and affordable energy sources or services.
- Manage energy projects ensuring they align with the strategy of the Department and GPG.
- Manage research on energy efficiency initiatives and identify suitable renewable energy initiatives for the province.
- Advise on efforts to reduce the province’s contribution to climate change.
- Manage the Budget of the Directorate.
- Manage the skills development plan of the Directorate.
- Manage the PMDS of the Directorate.
- Manage the audit findings and queries of the Directorate.
- Facilitate strategic review and planning sessions and the submission of the strategic, operational plans, budget and reports of the programme.
