Job Description
There is an exciting opportunity in OUTsurance’s Marketing department for a skilled and seasoned Traditional Media Planner. The person must be self-motivated with a passion for marketing and the strategy behind it, and must be able to plan, strategize and compile in-depth reporting, interpret data to identify analytical trends and to make recommendations upon findings. The successful applicant must be able to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the OOH, Print and TV Media portfolio (Product specific).
- Build relationships with our account executives and media owners.
- TV bookings on the Telmar bookings system.
- Evaluate ATL media and sponsorship proposals.
- Daily in-depth analysis of marketing performance data, guided by the outcome of reports to provide input and recommendations on marketing expenses and spot picking strategy of media sources to ensure optimal performance.
- Daily, weekly and monthly reporting in MS Excel, and written in report format in MS Word.
- Manage and take responsibility for the allocated advertising budget.
- Work with Nielsen data in Excel format to build Share of Voice graphs and reports for the business.
- Compile competitor behavior and media spend reports.
- Ad-hoc analysis of media spend, spots, performance, etc., as requested by the business.
- Assist in writing short, creative briefs for the creative team for TV, Outdoor and print.
- Create Flighting codes for Production when needed.
- Daily lead tracking per media, per channel, and provide recommendations to optimize performance.
- Check and sign ATL invoices.
- Make recommendations on new advertising mediums to improve lead generation.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Matric.
- Statistics and/or mathematics as a subject at tertiary level will be beneficial.
- Advanced Excel course will be beneficial.
Experience:
- Must have at least 3 years’ experience in media planning.
- Experience with Telmar and/or Nielsen is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
- Solid understanding of the media industry at large.
- Good understanding of direct response advertising.
- Good knowledge of direct competitors and their different strategies.
- Self-starter, must take ownership of all projects and day-to-day tasks.
- Very strong numerical skills; must enjoy working with numbers on a daily basis.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including working with large sets of data, intricate formulas, and pivot tables) is a must and not negotiable.
- Strong analytical skills to make well-informed decisions and recommendations.
- Strong communication skills to communicate recommendations and concerns with your marketing team and media partners.
- Knowledge of compiling competitor behavior and media spend reports for all products.
- A good understanding of Telmar and/or a background in media bookings and scheduling in all media types will be a distinct advantage.
- Strong skills working with Nielsen.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Must have strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent existing relationships with partners in the media industry at large.
- Ability to work individually and cohesively as a team.
