We’re on the lookout for a like-minded individual to join us on our very exciting mission to revolutionise publishing for readers and writers. Specifically, this role is to lead the marketing efforts of that journey in the gardening world.
Scribehound Gardening gives 30 of the best gardening writers and voices a monthly column with total creative freedom to write about the topics which matter to them.
With one column published daily in written and audio format, Scribehound feeds subscribers’ passions with a daily diet of easily digestible, high-quality exclusive content.
Building subscriptions and partnerships
The role’s main responsibilities are across marketing and subscription management, including online marketing (mainly through Meta platforms), budgeting and forecasting, supporting writers to recruit subscribers, partnerships with gardening organisations and businesses, and managing subscriber queries.
The successful candidate’s time will be spent fairly evenly across these areas, with key tasks including deciding upon and writing scripts for marketing videos, managing ad campaigns, filming & editing or managing the production (if outsourced), managing social media accounts, creating promotional content, forming new partnerships and building upon existing ones.
The role will work closely with Scribehound Gardening’s Head of Inspiration, and also the support of our figureheads, garden designer and writer James Alexander-Sinclair, and Sue Biggs, ex-Director General of the RHS. Alongside the gardening team, you will work with other members of the Scribehound marketing and tech team, sharing knowledge and coming up with ideas together.

The skills for success
Skills in this role are those of a modern digital marketing manager with at least 1 year’s digital marketing experience. Programmes that the successful candidate will spend a lot of time using include:
- Meta & Google’s online advertising platform
- Canva
- Google Analytics
- Video editing software
- Stripe
- Asana
- Google Sheets/Excel
- Mailchimp

Hybrid work
Scribehound’s HQ is in Vauxhall, London, and the team meet there together a minimum of twice a week to share thoughts, discuss strategy, and come up with the next market-changing ideas. Occasional travel may be required to meet writers, or visit and exhibit at shows.
Salary
The Marketing Manager role comes with an annual salary of £30,000 - £40,000, dependent upon experience.
