Our client is a Private Equity backed multi-sector Energy business who are entering into an ambitious growth period. As such, they are looking to appoint a Financial Accountant to manage their construction and delivery part of the business.
This is a pivotal role within their Finance team that offers a mixture of financial reporting and commercial exposure to the construction projects. It will present the opportunity to build a finance function from scratch and input their own processes/procedures into the business.
The successful candidate must be a self starter and be confident to make their own decisions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage the accuracy of the financial records for project costs, challenging project owners on assumptions and treatment of costs.
- Review cost value reconciliations (CVRs) for projects.
- Manage timesheet allocation and cost allocation across different concessions and projects.
- Review, follow up of Work in progress, unpaid certifications, retentions including aged elements.
- Application of IFRS 15 - Revenue recognition and IFRIC 12 Service concession accounting.
- Assist in the production of the monthly and weekly reporting, and ad hoc reporting requirements that may arise.
- Assist in the production of Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
- Partner with the concession delivery director and projects team to manage the delivery of all financial processes associated with their projects.
- Ownership affixed assets and assets under construction.
- Review and ownership of accounting of Replacement Guarantee Fund (lifecycle fund).
- Ownership of specific balance sheet accounts reconciliations.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Possesses professional qualification for the role ACA, ACCA, CIMA.
- Ideally at least 2-3 years experience working in a Finance department, preferably within a similar industry.
- Commercial acumen, as well as a strong understanding of the relationships between key financial and non-financial business value drivers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Dynamics or similar ERP systems is a plus.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
