OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Responsible for maintaining the financial records of a company by checking and accurately recording the day-today financial transactions of the company.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Responsibilities
• Analysis and verification of source documents such as invoices, receipts, computer printouts for tax compliance
• Allocation and posting of financial transactions
• Transfer of data from recons to general ledger
• Reconciliation of various General ledger accounts
• Scrutiny of accountants for completeness and abnormalities and provision of variance analysis
• Maintain and improve internal control systems
• Prepare payments and bank deposits
• Comply with relevant reporting requirements
• Assist with audits - compiling working papers and supporting documents
• Maintain complete filing system to support financial records
• Experience in maintaining and collecting debtors
• Compilation of various financial reports including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow
• VAT reconciliations and submitting VAT returns
• Maintenance of Fixed Asset Registers
• Supplier and customer account reconciliations
• Performing month-end close activities
• Rental billing and payment including maintenance of rent roll
QUALIFICATIONS
• Matric
• B. Comm Accounting or equivalent accounting certification or busy with studies in accounting
EXPERIENCE:
• 3 – 5 years’ experience
• knowledge of bookkeeping practices
• knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Advanced knowledge of relevant computer applications – Microsoft Office (Word / Excel / Power
Point)
• Must be computer literate.
