We’re looking for a Head of Engineering.The Role This is an exciting opportunity to join the Fertifa team. We have successfully matured beyond MVP stage and now have v2’s of each of our mobile app, website and platform and are looking for someone to manage and execute the development lifecycle to build, deploy and iterate on our products.The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the technical development of our proposition, initially by working with our long-standing partner development team (remote) and potentially over time by building a team in-house. Expect to split your time equally at the outset between devising leadership strategy and contributing to the code base as and when necessary. You will report directly to the Executive Director.Key Responsibilities: Day-to-day oversight of and responsibility for our software development lifecycle, including strong partnership with our head of product and product leadWork with the team to drive forward and deliver projects on time and with minimal supervision, learning and improving accuracy / speed over timeWork closely with a fast-moving software development teamManage the delivery of our product, working closely with our client services delivery and operations teamExperience: At least 5-6 years’ experience as an engineering lead or full-stack development leadSkills & Attributes:Self-starter, with engineering lead (or similar) experience in working at an early-stage (pre-Series A) start-up Experience facilitating communication between “development” and “commercial” teams An assertive, effective, professional communicator and mediator, working with a multi-disciplinary team demonstrating constant “presence” and availability, fast response time and feedback loops, prompt follow-up and collaboration Strong people management skills with interest in and commitment to developing others and building a collaborative team dynamicAbility to work flexibly to cope with the dynamics and potential uncertainties or fast-moving adjustments of a start-up environmentHave an interest in supporting the fertility and reproductive healthcare industriesQualifications & experience: Technical expertise in most of these technologies: TypeScript, React/React Native, NodeJS, Postgres and AWSDevOps best practices Experience working with healthcare or privacy-sensitive data, including an awareness of the principles behind ISO27001 and GDPR also helpfulEmpathise with those who are trying to conceive, going through the menopause or facing reproductive health issuesWhat we offer: Competitive salary range between £100k and £120k depending on experience25 days holiday + bank holidays 3 days wellbeing days Flexible working hours as part of a Hybrid ModelComprehensive healthcare cash plan EMI share option scheme (4-year vesting with 1 year cliff) Enhanced family-forming, fertility, menopause, women's health and men's health policies, as well as progressive health leave for reproductive health challengesDiscounted reproductive health benefits e.g., fertility, menopause & men’s healthTeam socials Monthly travel allowance £1k Learning budgetWorking hours: Full-time, permanentWe are an inclusive and supportive employer, with a great team spirit.
