Our client in logistics is seeking a driven Business Development Specialist to join their team in Johannesburg.
Key Responsibilities: - Identify New Business Opportunities : Proactively identify potential clients and markets within the logistics and transport sector, including freight, warehousing, and supply chain management.
- Client Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, acting as a key point of contact to understand their logistics needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Sales & Revenue Growth : Develop strategies to meet and exceed sales targets, including contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and managing the sales pipeline.
- Market Research : Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trends, competitor activity, and potential business opportunities. Use this data to adjust strategies and drive business development initiatives.
- Proposal Development : Prepare and deliver compelling business proposals, presentations, and pitches to prospective clients.
- Collaboration with Operations : Work closely with internal teams such as operations, transport, and warehousing to ensure client expectations are met and that services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
- Networking : Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to stay updated on market developments and to represent the company, building a professional network.
- Reporting & Analytics : Monitor and report on key performance metrics such as sales growth, client acquisition, and market trends. Provide regular feedback to senior management to inform business strategy.
Key Requirements: - Experience : Minimum of 2-7 years of experience in business development, sales, or client management, preferably within the logistics, transport, or supply chain sector.
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Industry Knowledge : Strong understanding of the logistics and transport industry, including knowledge of freight forwarding, transportation, warehousing, and supply chain management.
- Sales Acumen : Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets with experience in building and managing a successful sales pipeline.
- Client-Focused : Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships and influence decision-makers.
- Analytical Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess business opportunities and develop solutions.
- Negotiation Skills : Ability to negotiate contracts and manage complex client relationships.
- Tech-Savvy : Familiarity with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software tools.
