Business Manager/Chartered Accountant
A socially responsible housing enterprise based in Durban, dedicated to providing quality housing solutions to the community, and committed to ensuring safe and sustainable living environments for all, with a tenant base of approximately 1,964 units, is actively seeking an experienced Business Manager/Chartered Accountant.
As the Business Manager/Chartered Accountant, the successful individual will hold a dual role, combining strategic business management with financial expertise to drive the success and sustainability of the organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO, these are the key responsibilities:
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervision of finance team including Accountant General, Accountant Debtors, and Creditors Clerk
- Review of monthly finance reports, payroll, and VAT
- Presentation of management accounts to the CEO on a monthly basis
- Review of quarterly reports submitted to SHRA
- Assistance with preparation for board meetings and audit preparation
- Implementation of processes to ensure compliance with SHRA regulations.
Strategic Business Management:
- Development and implementation of strategic plans to achieve organizational goals.
- Financial analysis and forecasting to support decision-making.
- Identification of growth opportunities and risk management strategies
- Collaboration with department heads to align financial objectives with overall business objectives.
Procurement Department Setup and Management:
- Assistance in establishing the procurement department.
- Implementation of policies, processes, and compliance monitoring
Leasing and Debtors Department Oversight:
- Review and sign off of new lease agreements.
- Ensuring compliance with internal processes and policies
- Oversight of leasing and debtor’s department staff
Legal Affairs Coordination:
- Close collaboration with Legal Director
- Ensuring legal compliance in all operations
Reporting & Systems Management:
- Oversight of company-wide digitization process
- Implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Review and enhancement of policies and procedures.
- Implementation of organizational controls and risk mitigation measures
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, or related field (Must have post Articles and membership to SAICA)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the housing or real estate sector
- Strong understanding of finance, procurement, leasing, and debt management processes
- Proven track record of strategic business planning and implementation
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of SHRA regulations and compliance requirements is a plus.
Package & Remuneration
Basic Salary - R50 000 PM, depending on experience.
