If you can answer ‘yes’ to each of these questions, then you could be exactly the person that we are looking for.In the role of Neighbourhood Support Officer, you will play an important and exciting part in the Council’s Housing First initiative. Housing First is an approach to helping people with a history of homelessness and rough sleeping to leave the streets behind. It offers both housing and support tailored to the individual for as long as that is needed.The job will involve you being a ‘good neighbour’ to two Housing First tenants, each living in their own self-contained flat next to, or close to, your own.Your five hours a week paid work will perhaps see you helping to deal with any concerns your Housing First neighbour may raise about repairs, noise, unwanted visitors, cleaning. Just like any good neighbour, you will also keep an eye on their wellbeing and pass on any concerns you might have.You will do this in a way that will help them feel supported and encouraged rather than scrutinised so that they build a good sense of belonging which may help integrate them into the community.The role would particularly suit someone with a background in social care, nursing, support, or any role with a public-facing element.
