Good Shepherd Lutheran College is an International Baccalaureate World School providing outstanding education for Early Learning - Year 12 students across three campuses in Howard Springs, Palmerston, and Leanyer.
The Head of Junior School (Howard Springs) is responsible for leading a dedicated, highly professional group of educators at the Howard Springs Campus (250 students), located 26km south east of Darwin CBD. This campus is committed to excellent teaching and the delivery of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), focusing on values and student strengths, supported by an engaged parent community.
The Head of Junior School manages the activities of students and teachers in the following areas: student well-being, academic performance, classroom practice, administration, and budget and staff management in line with the College Purpose statement. The role includes involvement in campus-wide initiatives, responsibilities, events, and programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in bringing the values and culture of the College to life.
Main Responsibilities
- Leadership and pursuit of academic excellence through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme
- Leadership of the College Wellbeing program
- Maintaining the highest standards of student behaviour and presentation
- Lead the team of classroom teachers and education support assistants
- Liaise with the Deputy Principal in the management of staff performance within the Junior School
- Organisation and administration of the sub-school’s daily operation
- Manage the Student Leadership Program at the Campus
- Assist new students and families in partnership with the College Registrar
- Development of structures and processes to achieve College and Campus priorities
- Promotion of the school within the parent and wider community
