QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant post-matric qualification in environment, quality, health and safety
- Certificate course in ISO14001 / OHSAS18001
- Code 08 driver’s license
- Microsoft Office Package
- Efficient in internet use to source information
Overall Responsibility:
Total management of health, safety, and environmental issues according to legislative requirements. Development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and amendment of policies when required
- Safety Induction Training
- Environmental awareness training and training on conducting audits
- Coordinate and chair regular meetings with safety representatives, management, and union
- Implement OHSAS 18001
- Prepare plants for SABS audits
- Ensure relevant legal compliance
- Arrange internal audits
- Arrange surveys (Occupational & Environmental)
- Implement an effective referral system to external agencies
- Ensure effective incident management (COID)
- Assist in disability management
- Conduct factory visits and audits
- Ensure files are up to date
- Check intranet regularly
- Submit reports to ETEX (annual, monthly as required)
- Water sampling (ERWAT)
- Regular hygiene checks (e.g., ablutions, tearooms, etc.)
- Review roles and functions of management in terms of HSE
- Establish efficient reporting mechanisms to report to management
Skills Required:
- Excellent communication skills

- Sound knowledge of HSE legislative requirements

- Contacts and good relations with relevant bodies (e.g., community health, DWAF)
