Job Description:
The Market Development Manager will be responsible for identifying potential markets, developing strategies to penetrate those markets, and implementing plans to drive business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of market research, competitor analysis, and brand positioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Growth and Projects:
- Identify and capitalize on new opportunities to increase stainless steel usage and drive sales growth.
- Champion stainless steel and its capabilities at exhibitions, expos, and through various marketing channels.
- Identify strategic publications for partnership and prepare compelling articles and advertisements.
- Ensure dissemination of relevant educational content on stainless steel.
- Market Intelligence:
- Conduct comprehensive research to gather and maintain up-to-date marketing information on both current and emerging applications in the Stainless Steel industry.
- Manage and update an applications database for effective marketing initiatives.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing within the company group and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
- Liaison/Coordination:
- Collaborate cross-functionally to coordinate project-related orders and support product development efforts.
- Maintain accuracy in order loading processes and work closely with the PR department on related projects.
- Monitor and track new product and project orders from initiation to completion.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local and international associations and industry stakeholders to foster collaborative opportunities.
Qualifications:
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Math and Science.
- Diploma/degree in a Technical field/ Commercial/ Marketing.
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (metallurgy, mechanical, industrial, chemical or commercial (B.Com, business management) is required.
- MDP/EDP recommended.
- Technical experience is recommended.
- 6+ years of experience in market development, business development, or a related field.
- The incumbent should ensure excellent customer/supplier relations through good communication skills and experience with the markets. Candidate must be able to negotiate and recommend accurately.
- Candidate must understand the process and product grades.
- Technical report writing will be an advantage.
- Candidate must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally as required.
