Job Description
The client analyses client marketing data and generates intelligence reports to be used in optimising business efficiencies. The finance team requires a part-time Bookkeeper/Credit Controller to assist them for an average of 5 hours per week. This is an independent contractor role for R200 per hour, mostly work from home but will be required to join the office team in the JHB CBD for events and culture sessions approximately twice a month. This role will suit an independent contractor who works on Sage and seeks to add an additional client to their portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and balance sheets.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and financial accounts.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Manage payroll processing and related records.
Credit Control:
- Develop and implement effective credit control policies and procedures for two small companies.
- Monitor customer accounts to identify overdue payments and manage the collection process.
- Conduct credit checks on new customers and establish appropriate credit limits.
- Communicate with customers to resolve billing issues and negotiate payment plans when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of all credit control activities and communications.
- Prepare regular reports on accounts receivable status and credit control performance.
- Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to ensure a seamless credit control process.
- Provide recommendations for improving credit control processes and reducing bad debt.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous bookkeeping experience of at least 5 years.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Experience in credit control and collections.
- Proficiency in Sage (the accounting software in use).
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
