Job Purpose
The Divisional Technology Officer (DTO) will act as the primary technology leader within their assigned division, ensuring that the division’s technology needs are met through effective collaboration with centrally managed execution teams. The DTO will work closely with business unit leaders to align technology initiatives with business goals, ensuring seamless delivery and support.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with divisional leaders to understand business objectives and translate them into technology strategies
- Ensure technology initiatives align with the overall business strategy and objectives of the division.
- Act as a liaison between the division and Group Technology teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Facilitate the delivery of technology solutions by coordinating with the respective teams across Group Technology.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of technology projects, ensuring they meet division requirements and timelines.
- Monitor project progress and address any issues or roadblocks in collaboration with the relevant teams across both business and Group Technology.
- Identify and mitigate technology-related risks within the division.
- Address vulnerabilities and adhere to information security principles and practices.
- Address any technology-related audit findings promptly and effectively.
- Implement and maintain robust information security measures to protect the division’s data and systems.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
- Track and report on the performance of technology initiatives within the division.
- Provide regular updates to division leaders and the Group Technology EXCo on project status, risks, and outcomes.
- Oversee the allocation and utilization of funds for technology projects, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
- Implement and maintain processes to monitor and improve operational performance.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operation and support of the division’s technology infrastructure.
- Prioritize projects based on business needs and strategic objectives.
- Develop and manage the division’s technology budget, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and financial constraints.
- Demonstrate strong people management and leadership skills across a matrix organization.
- Focus on the commercialisation of technology in partnership with relevant executives across the division.
- Leverage technology to drive business growth and innovation.
- Identify and develop new technology-driven business opportunities in collaboration with division executives.
- Work with business leaders to create and implement strategies that monetize technology investments.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to promote technology solutions and their benefits to customers and stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
- B Degree (B.Sc., B.Comm, B.Tech IT)
- SMP or equivalent
- MBA or equivalent
Minimum Experience Level
10-15 years experience in IT delivery and senior business leadership roles of which 5 years in project delivery with multiple major (R50m+) projects delivered
