Your opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Accessibility Mental Health Team Lead, the Accessibility Advisor (Mental Health Team) maintains a caseload of students with various mental health and co-morbid conditions. The Advisor works with an ethno-culturally and academically diverse student population to: perform assessments, review and assess documentation, determine the need for accommodations, develop and implement accommodation plans, evaluate and modify existing accommodations, provide coordinated support, and facilitate students’ understanding of their disabilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Researching and recommending alternative approaches and possible accommodation solutions.
- Advising course instructors and staff on student accommodations issues.
- Assessing and making recommendations on student funding applications.
- Writing confidential student accommodation summaries.
- Providing case management support to students.
- Determining the reasonability of an accommodation in relation to a student's disability.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum four years related experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and monitoring accommodations.
- Knowledge of major mental illnesses.
- Experience working in clinical mental health settings.
- Ability to read and interpret medical documentation.
- Commitment to equity and inclusion principles.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to navigate complex situations.
- Superior organizational skills.
Assets (Nonessential):
- Knowledge of case management and local resources.
- Assessment and crisis intervention skills.
- Knowledge of community mental health sector.

NOTE: This is a seven (7) month term position. Occasional overtime, with approval from manager.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 13 -- $84,813. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $108,463.
