Purpose of the position: To provide expertise and advice on legal aspects of corporate decisions, policies, and plans with a focus on media rights, content acquisitions, and content productions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with legal compliance and governance.
- Advise on intellectual property (IP) and rights-related queries.
- Advise on corporate governance developments.
- Prepare presentations on various legal topics.
- Provide advice on corporate and commercial transactions.
- Negotiate, draft, and review various media-related agreements.
- Assist with the management of litigation matters.
- Liaise and help manage external parties (including external attorneys).
- Provide legal guidance on the structure of proposed services.
- Conduct training on pieces of legislation applicable to the Group.
- Conduct legal research and provide opinions.
- Prepare or update policies as necessary.
- Provide training on policies that the Legal Department is responsible for and systems used by the legal department.
- Support subsidiaries of NNG with legal support and drafting.
- Assist in the management and protection of the IP, trademarks, and domain names portfolio for NNG.
- Maintain and develop a database of legal templates and precedents applicable to the NNG business.
Compliance:
- Provide advice on corporate governance and compliance developments and ensure adherence.
- Assist in the development of policies and best practices relating to NNG.
- Advise on and ensure adherence to legislation.
- Conduct training on pieces of legislation applicable to the business.
- Assist with the management of the Legal Compliance Programme (including preparation of Legal Risk Registers).
Qualifications:
- A BCom degree in Law or an LLB.
Experience:
- At least 3-4 years’ working experience.
- A minimum of two years’ commercial legal experience.
- Experience in the media, copyright, telecoms, or related industry would be an advantage.
