Job Description:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety activities
- Stay updated with changes in health and safety regulations and communicate relevant changes to stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably related to Occupational Health and Safety, environmental management, health, and safety and/or quality management.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential hazards and risks
Technical Competencies & Responsibilities:
- Experience in a suitable environment, understanding of food safety would be advantageous, with at least 5 years in a management role .
- Strategy Execution: Set the overall business quality, safety and health direction through the creation of a multi-pronged strategy to drive compliance and performance.
- Risk Management: Monitor critical quality, safety and health control measures, oversee audits, and handle statutory reporting and legal compliance.
- Integrated Quality Systems Management: Establish and maintain quality and safety systems and standards, oversee audits, and drive resolution of non-conformances.
- Strategic Technical Contribution: Provide technical assistance and support, act as a thought leader, and define Group quality assurance policies.
- Operational Management: Ensure effective safety and security coverage, drive initiatives to reduce illegal activities, and promote safe and healthy work practices.
- Reporting: Prepare annual management reports, engage with internal stakeholders, and develop external and internal communication programs.
- Supplier Quality Assurance: Manage the Supplier Quality Assurance Program, oversee risk assessments and audits, and report supplier risks.
- Compliance Inspections and Audits: Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and health standards through audits and inspections.
