Our client, operating within the power plant equipment industry, is looking to appoint a Field Service Engineer to join their team based in Sandton, Gauteng for a 1-year contract.
Requirements:
- A minimum B. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in a similar job within heavy duty, preferably corrugated industry.
- Good team player with an eye for detail.
- A willingness to be flexible with working hours and locations and to be away from home for substantial periods, including weekends.
- Must have a valid driver license and own vehicle.
- Ability to travel throughout Sub Saharan Africa on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to work from mechanical assembly drawings, have knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Skills:
- Experience with international orientated companies.
- Numerate and literate with good computer literacy (MS Office).
- Strong written and oral communication in English.
- Must be able and motivated to learn and understand both the machines and customer's requirements.
- Able to build relationships and be solution oriented.
- Confident working independently with a great deal of autonomy.
- Organizational skills (methodical and disciplined).
- Good reporting skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide mechanical service expertise.
- Responsible for supporting customers in installing equipment such as corrugating and box making machines.
- Assemble and adjust the machines according to the technical documents or drawings provided by the company.
- Ensure that customers' expectations are met and exceeded.
- Draft a report and submit to the customer (through Line Manager) recording the actual activities performed at site.
- Always be the ambassador for the business with the ability to engender trust and respect with customers.
- Communicate well with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
- Cooperate with engineers from international branches and business partners to achieve the necessary results.
- Share technical skill and know-how with colleagues and customers.
- Provide training to operators and technicians who will operate the machines.
- Support customers with their operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting on the machines supplied by the company and coordinate these activities with the Line Manager.
- Support customers by email or phone.
- After each visit, make a report and submit this to the Line Manager.
- Provide service and maintenance to the company's equipment.
- Write detailed reports on the work carried out.
- Make up parts lists and advise customers on parts replacement and parts needed to be kept at site in case of a breakdown.
