Leading engineering company based in Gauteng (East Rand) requires an experienced KAM: Mechanical Sales Engineer with local sales and Sub Sahara sales experience. Mechanical equipment experience is essential. This position is to manage Key Accounts and develop new business.
Duties & Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements:
Matric and Mechanical Degree is essential.
Valid passport.
Minimum of 8-10 years engineering sales experience is required.
- Key Accounts management experience.
- New business development.
- Local sales and experience into Sub Saharan Africa is essential.
Duties include:
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers.
- Responsible for achieving yearly sales and financial targets in this region as set by the Sales Director.
- Managing KPI’s as set by the Sales Director and meeting sales responsibilities.
- Strategic business development of sales opportunities within South Africa in the following industries: Cement, sugar, oil and gas, power, coal, ports & harbours, steel and metals, general industry and mining and minerals.
- Responsible for achieving budget and defined KPI targets including but not limited to contribution margin.
- Maintain and build solid relationships between customers and the company.
- Manage and grow existing business through regular visits and networking.
- Ensure that the Sales/Bid Pipeline is of value and quality to achieve Order Intake targets.
- Provide timely feedback regarding reporting to management.
- Undertake market research into potential new customers.
- Maximise additional business opportunities with existing customer base.
- Plan and execute successful sales visits.
- Follow up on incoming enquiries and proposals submitted.
- Achieve highest possible margin and profitability.
- Assist with cash collection as necessary.
- Leverage the company's product range to create profitable business.
- Act as the customer’s representative within the company.
- Provide up-to-date feedback to customers.
- Resolve customer-related issues.
- Resolve terms and conditions queries with proposals or legal team.
- Be involved in complex sales negotiations.
- Utilise CRM for reporting and forecasting purposes.
- Keep CRM accounts detail and information current.
- Provide technical support to customers.
- Execute a clear and reliable reporting process to the Sales Director.
- Work as a team with peers within the organisation.
- Any other reasonable instruction given by management.

Package & Remuneration
Monthly plus Basic salary, medical aid, provident fund, car allowance, petrol, commission.
