Purpose Of The Position
The role reports to the Stores HOD and involves providing leadership in a stores setting, directing, coordinating and planning work activities and obtaining necessary resources for accurate inventory control, ensuring stock accuracy and quality product delivery to internal and external customers. The Stores Coordinator should also ensure a disciplined and motivated workforce that is trained to complete their tasks efficiently and effectively within the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure a safe working environment for all employees
- Maintain a 5S Housekeeping system
- To do weekly assessments on staff members working to a safe working procedure
- To ensure daily equipment and machinery checks are done and documented
- To ensure that safety reps, fire fighter and first aiders are carrying out daily audits/inspections
- To ensure that all stock received goes through the necessary quality checks
- Reporting of potential process, material, machine/tool issues which may negatively impact on quality of product(s)
- Communication, with Department heads, takes place timeously, to ensure quality problems are dealt with swiftly
- Maintain quality and process documentation requirements
- To carry out daily cycle counts on a minimum of 10 items per day
- Monitor employees' tasks against Schedule and report on Department Daily Sheets
- Allocate work to employees in accordance with the Planned Production Schedule & Job Cards (turnover plan)
- Ensure all delivery commitments are met as required and ensure production has the stock they need to manufacture
- Report status of stock holdings on a regular basis, immediately highlight issues to direct superior
- Communicate, with Department head, to ensure any potential/actual problems are dealt with swiftly
- Record, highlight and control scrap and rework in Red Tag Area
- Identify constraints / bottlenecks (weakest link) in processes and highlight to management
- Ensures that all stock is clearly identified and neatly packed in batch quantities
- Be active in identifying cost reduction opportunities and put forward suggestions to Department Head
- Always maintain stock accuracy and resolve stock related queries swiftly and efficiently
- Monitor work performance of all employees that report to you and implement corrective measures where required
- Monitor the Timekeeping, Attendance and Absenteeism of all employees within own department
- Carry out Counselling in upholding the Company's Code of Conduct and disciplinary guide
- Mentor, train and encourage multi-skilling of all employees in own department
- Ensure correct staff are in correct positions to increase productivity
Requirements
- Matric
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in a Stores Position in a Supervisory capacity
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Manufacturing Company
- Computer Literacy - MS Word, Intermediate Excel and Outlook
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to read and write reports and respond to e-mails
- Must be able to multitask whilst remaining calm
- Must be organized and structured in approach to shop floor issues
