Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering (NQF level 7.)
- A skill and a passion for designing electronic circuits and products.
- Proficiency in using electronic test equipment.
- Knowledge of radar fundamentals.
- Experience in schematic and PCB design.
- Knowledge and experience in RF design (e.g. antennas, microstrip structures, filters etc.)
- Knowledge and experience in communications protocols such as USB, BLE, WiFi, UART, SPI, I2C, I2S etc.
- Experience in consumer electronic design.
- Professional communication skills, to document and collaborate with remote teams in the USA Canada, Taiwan, and Europe.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- A good grasp of typical electronic design issues (e.g. EMC, heat, noise, stray impedances, etc.)
- Ability to consider implications on a system level.
Area of Responsibility: - Design and develop the analog, digital, and RF circuits powering Garmin devices worldwide through simulations, component selection, drawing up schematics, and guiding PCB layout.
- Ensure the electronic circuits and integrated systems function as expected by planning and executing tests using applicable test equipment and setups and by writing basic scripts to capture and analyze data and present the results lucidly.
- Develop the innovative and reliable products Garmin is known for by working closely with other disciplines as part of an international project team.
- Develop products that can be mass-produced with exceptional quality by working closely with the factory to devise manufacturing and testing strategies.
- Debug electronic circuits and our products with solid problem-solving techniques.
- Enable reliable manufacturing, ensure quality, and share knowledge through thorough documentation of designs and results.
- Improve our products and your skills by integrating feedback received on your designs and providing feedback on other products in development through reviews.
- Be responsive to design issues by working in an agile, self-organizing team environment.
- Growth in this position typically evolves into a Project Engineer role on new products.
