Role Summary
Carries out all stores and despatch functions, which include expediting sales orders, picking stock, despatching sales orders and receiving supplies.
Internal Sales
- Liaising with customers - identifying most appropriate product needs from the customer and recommends the best possible product in DNW that suits these needs.
- Capturing sales orders, ensuring that the recorded delivery date is based on production or stock lead times.
- Check product availability.
- Calculates prices and prepares quotations (SAP) and communicates with customers.
- Obtains agreement to purchase.
- Calculates possible delivery lead time for made up items (slings).
- Perform any ad hoc duties when requested.
- Expediting sales orders and advises customers in writing of changes in delivery dates.
- Promotion of sales of items in Retail Outlet and ensuring that merchandising and display of product is neat and eye-catching.
- Replenishment of retail stock in Retail Outlet.
- Arranges for clients to make payment (COUNTER SALES).
- Picks items sold and arranges for these to be loaded onto clients vehicle or despatched to client (COUNTER SALES).
- Prepare and follow-up on quotes recorded on the tracker system/check stock availability with SAP system/follow up on outstanding orders. Reports lost quotes to Branch Manager.
- Report major stock movements to buyer or appropriate personnel in order to replenish stocks.
- Create sales growth by contacting dormant customers/lost customers and communicate results with Branch Manager.
- Reports competitor activities in order to establish competitor and strategy policies attends to customers in a professional manner when they call at the counter or phone.
- Reports customer complaints to Senior Internal Sales person.
- Keeps up to date with product technical info by studying supplier catalogue.
Stores Duties
- Maintains stock availability and reports major stock movements by advising Admin.
- Clerk of items that need replenishment.
- Assists with perpetual or periodic stock takes.
- Receives stock from suppliers ensuring that the receiving inspection has been done, items are correct as ordered and stock is in the respective storage location.
- Ensure that stock of lifting equipment has the required certification.
- Enters all receipts into SAP.
- Issues stock to production as required.
- Investigates stock variances.
Despatch Duties
- Checks outstanding order schedules and advises the Internal Sales Clerks of any changes to expected delivery dates.
- Checks outstanding order schedules and picks stock for order delivery and accumulates stock in holding area.
- Liaises with Workshop Superintendent for driver to schedule local deliveries and Admin. Clerk for external deliveries.
- Generates delivery note at time of despatch for collection by customer, ensuring that all relevant receipt details are captured on the delivery note.
- Files all despatch documentation such as POD’s, waybills, picking slips, delivery notes, etc.
- Ensures that relevant test certificates are supplied with each order.
- Performs any ad hoc duties when requested.
Other
- In the absence of the Workshop Assistant carries out cutting, coiling, sling manufacturing and any Workshop duties to service customers.
- Carries out ad hoc safety inspections allocated by the Depot Manager.
- As and when required, will perform Forklift Driving and deliveries.
