Area Sales Manager - Cape and Namibia
Our client, a leader within optical lens manufacturing, is looking for an Area Sales Manager for Cape and Namibia to join their team. This position reports to the National Sales Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Generate revenue from an assigned geographical location by executing strategies to achieve sales targets.
- Develop close relationships with customers to grow business, find new customers, and actively expand the business.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and increase sales of the company products.
- Establish, maintain, and expand the customer base by acquiring new customers.
- Achieve sales targets for allocated region retail outlets.
- Achieve company call frequency on allocated customer list - Both F2F & Digital.
- Detailing Optometrists, dispensers, and front-line staff on lens products.
- Ensure tools like price lists, catalogues, and detail aids are presented to the appropriate contact at store level.
- Implement sales processes in clinical and business sales calls.
- Implement sales promotions into a segmented store base.
- Manage key accounts.
- Provide online ordering support.
- Solve problems related to ordering, non-adapts, and process flow.
- Support new media initiatives, e.g., dispensing tools like Visureal Portable / Master.
- Provide credit and accounts support.
- Daily liaising with the Customer Service Support Team.
Reporting:
- Daily Sales Force.com call reporting and two weekly plans.
- Weekly feedback to Sales Manager.
- Monthly report submitted on territory performance and key actions.
Training:
- Conduct optical and product training in all stores.
- Provide store profit and business training where required.
- Deliver group presentations at events and in-store workshops with staff.
- Train staff on the online internal system and tracing device.
- Train staff on dispensing tools and other equipment.
Marketing:
- Place point-of-sale material.
- Ensure product launches are rolled out effectively and timely.
- Plan and attend optometry events/conferences.
Professional:
- Stay abreast of CPD programs.
- Run CPD meetings online in territory.
- Be up to date with professional coding systems.
Desired Experience & Qualification
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12.
- Qualified Optometrist.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail optics / wholesale sales beneficial.
- Value chain management.
- Lens non-adapt recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Sales experience is essential.
- Good technical background in product area is desirable.
- Good sales and presentation skills.
- IT software – Excel / PowerPoint / Word / Data analysis.
- Optical problem solving – prescription to dispensing.
- Event and project organizing skills.
- Committed to continuous education through workshops, seminars, and conferences.
- Customer service oriented.
- SF.com knowledge advisable.
