Duties & Responsibilities
Quality
- Effective management and maintenance of the SHEQ Management system, procedures and specifications.
- Investigating and feedback on all Customer and Consumer complaints as per customer complaints procedure.
- Conducting risks and opportunities or Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) studies and action for site.
- Manage internal audit system for SHEQ. Ensure adherence to schedule.
- Conduct supplier audits on all new or existing suppliers.
- Facilitate all external audits, certification audits or customer visits or inspections.
- Ensure control of non-conforming material procedure, corrective actions and concessions procedure is adhered to for site.
- Management of the Bill of Materials.
- Quality assurance and trending of results on all products, escalate deviations to General Manager, Operations Manager and SHEQ Manager ASAP.
- Support the NPD department with conducting trials and approving all product produced.
- Co-ordinating and reporting on trials of new products, raw materials and wrapping materials and identifying operators/shop-floor SHEQ training requirements as well as conducting the training where possible/necessary.
- Ensure effective Quality assurance is maintained on site, maintain ISO 9001 and FSC certification.
- Manage calibration schedule on site with stakeholders.
- Manage document and data control and procedure reviews for site with stakeholders.
- Manage quality control and quality assurance protocols.
- Communicate quality and FSC policies annually and display at site.
- Conduct annual quality and FSC training.
- Ensure adherence to quality plan sampling, internal and external testing programs.
- Certificate of analysis generation.
- Coordinate annual management review with stakeholders.
- Managing Suppliers/Service Providers to SHEQ and controlling their costs.
Safety, Health and Environment
- SHE policy displayed and communicated to employees/contractors annually.
- SHE management system communicated to site management/employees.
- SHE Incidents: follow up/investigation support/lost time injury investigation/facilitation of corrective & preventative actions/incident recall.
- Critical incident investigation, reporting (Lost time injuries/reportable/property loss, fire, theft).
- Risk Assessment: Ensure that site SHER risk assessment is up to date/reviewed and critical risks communicated to management & employees.
- Ensure safe Work Procedures: Task Risk Assessment/safe work procedure/training and job observations are conducted.
- Ensure internal SHER audits are conducted, reports written & follow up on corrective & preventative actions conducted as per audit schedule.
- Contractor Legal Compliance: Conduct legal compliance assessments of permanent on site contractors as per audit schedule.
- SHER Induction: SHER induction compliance monitoring & enforcement.
- Training: Monitoring of legal compliance and reporting legal non-conformances to training coordinators for corrective actions.
- Conduct annual SHE awareness training, monthly toolbox talks, ad hoc SHE training when required.
- Manage SHE Inspections with safety reps and operations manager for site.
- SHE Committee Meetings: Coordinate monthly SHE meetings and send out minutes.
- Reporting: Monthly completion of SHER data to stakeholders.
- Emergency Preparedness & Response: Facilitation of emergency response and evacuation exercises/site fire teams/compliance evaluation/liaison with external fire and emergency services.
- Occupational Hygiene Surveys: schedule external surveys, facilitate, evaluate reports, noise, ventilation, HCS, lighting and communicate to stakeholders for implementation of actions.
- Medical Fitness: Monitor legal compliance in terms of medical fitness.
- Client Verification Audits: Conduct required off site client verification assessments e.g. waste disposal or recycling provider facilities.
- Ensure planned job observations are scheduled and monitored for compliance.
- Management Review: Ensure that annual management review is conducted.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Formal Qualifications:
- Degree in BSC / diploma in Anal Chem/ ChemEng/ TQM/BTech Quality.
- Effective QMS e.g ISO 9001: 2015 knowledge and practical experience.
- SAMTRAC.
- SMETA knowledge / Hygiene standards/ legal compliance/ lab experience.
- ISO 14001 Implementation / ISO 45001 implementation / legal compliance.
- Tertiary qualification an added advantage e.g. Courses: Incident investigation, Risk assessment, Root Cause Analysis.
Work Experience:
- Fast paced factory environment.
- Years demonstrated operational safety, health, environmental risk practical experience.
- 3 years’ experience in SHEQ environment.
- Lab experience is advantageous.
- Internal and External audit experience.
