Introduction
Leading electrical construction specialist is recruiting for an Assistant Operations Manager, to be trained for the Operations Manager position. This is a senior Management position responsible for the full operations of a specific branch, including sales, operations and project installations.
Duties & Responsibilities

- Operational planning and management
- Managing to achieve sales targets and to maximise operational project profitability
- Developing key business relationships and business development
- General management and reporting

- Operational planning and management
- Completing RFQ, tenders and costing for projects
- Ensuring technical compliance of designs and installations according to applicable SANS code of practice
- Training project teams to complete installations according to the relevant SANS code of practice
- Planning of projects and teams
- Planning of material and site-specific material
- Management of all health and safety related requirements from clients and projects with the support of the Safety dept.
- Communication with existing and potential clients
- Adherence to all operations procedures and processes
- Ensuring that all relevant controls are in place and being adhered to for:
- Vehicles
- Equipment
- Tools
- PPE
- Material and branch store
- Consumables
- Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Office Property
- Sales targets and profitability
- Responsible for the overall team drive and motivation to achieve the set sales targets for the branch.
- Reporting weekly and monthly on the sales tracking and drafting sales forecasts for management.
- Managing projects and teams efficiently to enable cost savings, to work smarter and faster, to improve productivity which will result in improved project profitability.
- Analyzing project profitability report information and completing required corrective actions.
- Managing the debtor portfolio for the branch including invoicing.
- Developing key business relationships and business development
- Building strong business relationships with Consulting Engineers, Electrical Engineers and other stakeholders based on the following key relationship values:

- Leveraging key business relationships to further enhance the business pipeline of potential projects and tenders to support the sales responsibility.

- General management and reporting
- Management of Operational teams in terms of any HR or operational requirements which could include:
- Appointments
- Promotions
- Disciplinary process and actions
- Dismissals
- Incentives and employee bonus schemes (Monthly Tool, Driver and Equipment bonuses)
- Project administration
- Operations and team meetings or briefings
- Identifying business and project risks and discussing with management to address the potential risks.
- Completing required site visit and inspections, assessments and attend to client requested project meetings.
- Reporting to the Operations Manager in terms of branch performance, project progress and status, any operational challenges.
- Required Operations Management administration.
- Compliance with ISO relevant company procedures.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Experience & Qualifications
- Min. matric with post qualifications in Project Management, Operations Management or Business Management will be beneficial
- Min. 8 years work experience with at least 5 years in a Management position, with responsibilities for sales growth
- Managing at least 5 direct reporting employees
- Experience in electrical or construction industries will be beneficial
- Electrical engineer or contracts manager experience preferred
