Environmental Consultant - AndoverWe are recruiting exclusively with our business partner on this role. This consultancy employs around 40 people and is expanding rapidly. You would be expected to be involved in all aspects of the management of contaminated land project work which could include spill response, investigation, remediation and validation of brownfield sites and pollution incidents and provision of consultancy services to oil spill response contractors and water and utility companies.
Structured training and mentoring will be provided to support your personal development and we would encourage you to join an appropriate professional organisation and to commence work towards chartered status.
Your time is likely to be split between office and site work throughout the UK and flexibility to travel and work away from home is important.
As the company grows, you would be expected to progress to a senior consultant position and to take on responsibility for managing assistant consultants and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of proposals and tenders;
- Management of contaminated land projects including brownfield development and pollution response and remediation;
- Health and safety planning including preparation of risk assessments, method statements, construction phase plans, COSHH assessments etc.;
- Field work including supervision and direction of investigation, remediation and validation works;
- Sampling of soils, waters and airs and scheduling of appropriate laboratory analysis and interpretation of analytical results;
- Financial management including preparation of cost estimates, cost control and invoicing;
- Factual and interpretative reporting including quantitative assessment of risks to human health and controlled waters, remedial options appraisals and remedial strategies
Key Requirements
- Degree in relevant science subject such as Environmental Science or Geology
- At least 2 years relevant experience
- Good knowledge of contaminated land legislation, British Standards and guidance documents
- Ability to undertake field work across the UK and to be flexible and work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Clean full UK driving licence
- Completion of a Basic DBS check
