SpLD Advisor (Term time only - To start August 2024)
To meet the needs of learners with learning difficulties/disabilities in terms of Exam Access Arrangements. To develop the use of technology for all to meet the needs of learners with Specific Learning Difficulties
Key Responsibilities
- To carry out Form 8 Exams Access Arrangements assessments as per JCQ criteria.
- To coordinate assessment bookings.
- To update college systems and relevant departments with assessment results.
- To provide advice and guidance to learners with SpLD to encourage independent learning.
- To work closely with curriculum to encourage inclusive teaching practice including delivery of awareness information to staff.
- To promote equality and integration for learners with SpLD with curriculum and the wider college.
- To promote and develop the use of assistive technologies for learners with learning difficulties and disabilities.
- To assist learners with the use of specialist equipment and software.
- To engage in continuous professional development.
- Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
- Level 2 (GCSE A* - C) in English and Maths
- Specialist Teaching Qualification with current SpLD Assessment Practising certificate
- Post Graduate qualification in Individual Assessment equivalent to Level 7
Experience
Essential Criteria:
- Experience of carrying out Form 8 Exams Access Arrangements Assessments
Desirable Criteria:
- Awareness of current assistive technologies and apps

Specialist Knowledge
Essential Criteria:
- Knowledge of current JCQ Guidelines
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of assistive technology and software

IT Skills
Essential Criteria:
- Intermediate ability to use Microsoft Office applications and willing to undertake training appropriate to role
- Willing to undertake any software training relevant to role.

- Ability to demonstrate and use assistive technology equipment and software
