As a Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor, you will serve as a front line leader who is accountable for delivering highly reliable results related to quality and best practices to improve the clinical operations of the unit. Supporting unit based shared governance and decentralized decision making structures and processes is of vital importance. We are looking for a full-time Registered Nurse Unit Supervisor for our IMC Unit at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital with great nursing and leadership skills.
IMCU is a 32 bed, semi-private unit. It’s IMVH’S Telemetry unit, and one of the 2 inpatient units that admit stroke patients. We admit and care for a variety of health issues/diagnosis such as heart failure, stroke, COPD, Acute MI etc.
Schedule: Full time (36 hr/week) 3- 12 hour shifts-Night
Candidates are eligible to receive a competitive sign on bonus. Those relocating from more than 50 miles away will also receive relocation assistance.
Requirements:
• Recent Acute Care experience and/or nursing practice experience
• At least one year of Registered Nurse Clinical experience
• More than 2 years of Registered Nurse Clinical Experience specific to the focus of nursing unit preferred
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
* BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
* If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 24 months of the start date
• Completion of revised Charge Nurse Workshop within the first 90 days
Previous leadership courses
• BLS required. Specialty certification (as required by unit) within 1 year of hire
Certification in the specialty area of nursing practice
• RN licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Licensed to practice as an RN in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exhibits leadership ability that fosters teamwork and retention. Demonstrates professionalism and ability to remain calm and lead in dynamic and busy situations. Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office and healthcare software required. Strong problem-solving capabilities and prioritization. can serve as a resource and mentor to other clinical staff on the unit.
