We are currently looking for candidates to join their teams on a full-time, temporary basis. Being a large local authority, Coventry City Council are recruiting now for an ASAP start once compliant, due to high demand in the team.
Your new role
You will be working in and out of city centre locations. The team work closely with partner services to support rough sleepers to move on to both interim and settled accommodation.
The team at Coventry are providing a dual service; engaging those we find rough sleeping along with supporting those newly accommodated, removing barriers and increasing opportunities in persistent and creative ways. This is a challenging role working with some of our cities' most complex rough sleepers, and we are looking for people to provide flexible and effective support to both those on their caseload and the team.
The role involves working early morning outreach, other unsociable hours on occasion and relies on the whole team working flexibly as necessary. Use of your own car is desirable.Morning Outreach 6am-2pm once a week generally, then 9am-5pm every other day.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in your application, you will need a background in Social Housing - this could be a housing officer, neighbourhood officer, homelessness officer etc. You will need knowledge of Legislation and Part 6 and 7 of the Housing Act. Due to the nature of the role, you will need good negotiation skills as well as experience working with people who have complex backgrounds and complex needs.
This role requires an Enhanced DBS, which Hays will put into process for you free of charge. Driving and business insurance are needed for this role.
In addition, this role will be an ASAP start,. Before starting, you will need to pass your reference and compliance checks. On registration please have your 2 most recent employment details available for reference checks.
Driving is preferable and would be an advantage.
What you'll get in return
This role is full-time, temporary roles based in Coventry. Usually it is a 3-month ongoing contract with a high likelihood of long-term extensions. This position in particular offers a pay rate of £13.69 per hour + holiday allowance.
