The role
As a HSE Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role offers an excellent opportunity to deliver HSE support across our Clean Energy portfolio, such as with MEH Alliance and Commissioning Alliance activities, amongst also supporting work with Small and Advanced Modular Reactor vendors.
Day-to-day, you'll interface with wider Alliance HSE teams to deliver support both on-site and off-site. This includes supporting the Business Stream in ensuring that any new legislation, business or Group instructions are implemented following introduction into the Business Management System.
- Setting HSE Strategy for the Business Stream. Enforcing standards, providing proportionate and pragmatic expert advice and guidance to the team relating to specific problems or issues or on a more general basis relating to HSE management and promoting a strong HSE culture
- Ensuring a programme of HSE audits and inspections is fully planned and delivered, in compliance with national, group and company standards.
- Interpreting statistical data to identify areas of business improvement and advise and work with line managers such that the required improvement is realised
- Ensuring that all events are promptly investigated at the correct level, and that key lessons learned from events are identified and promulgated
- Writing and circulating reports that summarise areas of non-compliance, discussing with local management and identify areas requiring improvement
- Generating and delivering an overall Business Stream HSE Improvement Plan and supporting the development of local HSE Improvement Plans, as required
This position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.
This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and requires regular travel across a range of internal and customer sites on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements.
Essential experience of the HSE Manager
- Have a proven track record preferably gained within a similar role in the Nuclear or other highly regulated high hazard industry
- Good working knowledge of all relevant health and safety regulations and legislation
- Good working knowledge and application of ISO14001, BS:OHSAS 18001/ISO45001
- Ability to investigate events using industry best-practice causal analysis tools
- Approved Auditor qualification (or has demonstrable skills and track record) is desirable
- Competent Risk Assessor is desirable
Qualifications for the HSE Manager
- Level 3 (or equivalent) accredited Health and Safety Qualification (e.g. BSC Level 3)
- Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health, National Vocational Qualifications
- (NVQ) Level 3 Health and Safety at Work, NEBOSH General Certificate)
