Purpose of Position: To process specimens according to set criteria and standards on all the benches in the Microbiology Laboratory.
Requirements:
- National Diploma – Medical Technology (Preferably Clinical Pathology) (Required)
- Registered as Medical Technician (Chemical Pathology) with the HPCSA (Required)
Required Experience:
- Experience in pathology laboratory environment
- Knowledge: Ampath Microbiology document system
- Knowledge: HPCSA regulations
- Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath
- Perform general tasks in order to assist with maintaining best practice within the laboratory
- Perform receiving and resulting tasks on the Meditech system in order to ensure correct handling, preparing and recording of specimen and results
- Perform Serological identification typing tasks in order to ensure effective processing and resulting of serological bacterial typings
- Process specimens on the benches in order to ensure sufficient delivery of results
