We are searching for an Electrical Engineer to join our Industry, Energy & Asset Management Advisory Group. The position may be based in Johannesburg, Umhlanga or Cape Town. The incumbent will play a lead role in the delivery of industrial facilities, data center and mission critical facility projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design of data centres and mission critical facilities
- Design of electrical services for buildings and industrial facilities
- Prepare design tasks, reports, technical drawings, engineering specifications and tender documentation
- Measuring and compiling of bills of quantities
- Perform site inspections and attend project meetings
- Assistance in commissioning
- Provide expert contribution as project member or project discipline lead
- Provide technical and administrative support with preparation of bid documentation
- Ensure that all quality system procedures are followed in the production and issuing of designs, costing, drawings and standard details.
- Monitor quality to guarantee that delivered services/products are in line with all relevant (internal and external) guidelines/procedures.
- Contribute towards improvement of existing products, techniques and processes.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- BSc/BEng/BTech degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional registration with ECSA is preferred
- Data Centre Tier Designer Accreditation is advantageous
- Minimum 8 years’ relevant post-graduate experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment.
- Data centre / mission critical facilities experience is essential
- Industrial facilities experience is essential
- Clean rooms experience is highly desirable
- BIM experience and a minimum of 3 years’ experience using BIM authoring tools, e.g., Revit.
- BIM360, Revizto, Dynamo and Python experience is advantageous.
- Demonstrable electrical engineering experience with an in-depth knowledge of building electrical services, substation / distribution design, and reticulation systems designs, BMS.
- Extensive knowledge of local and international standards.
- Ability to develop engineering documentation from first principles.
- Knowledge of specialist packages as well as MS Office, including Teams, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Project.
- Good communication and people management skills for effective interface with other engineering disciplines, the client and contractors.
