MECHANICAL FITTER & TURNER MAIN FUNCTIONS: Preventative maintenance of the Engineering Test Centre & supporting plant Implementation of facility mechanical development programs Resolution of facility unplanned breakdowns Repair and overhaul of precision mechanical and servo-hydraulic equipment Operating of toolroom equipment (Lathe and milling machines) TYPICAL TASKS: Read drawings and manuals to establish task procedures Maintenance of water chiller facility Cooling tower maintenance and operation Maintenance of cooling water pumps Maintenance and upgrade of cooling water pipework Maintenance of exhaust gas extraction system Disassembly, repair and re-assembly of servo hydraulic actuators, control valves and pump sets Maintenance of fuel supply system, overhead storage header tanks and fuel distribution lines Maintenance and repair of service-air system and pipework Assistance with ongoing facility upgrade programs (mechanical) Fabrication of test rig mechanical structures and brackets Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to company and OHSEE Act requirements OHSE inspections on equipment Procurement of material and consumables Identify and procure special tools and equipment Maintain an inventory of commonly used parts and hardware THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT SHOULD HAVE: N3 Mechanical Fitter & Turner At least 3 years work experience in a similar environment Knowledge of dynamometers, servo hydraulic systems & fabrication techniques Can speak, read and write English Can work without supervision to high safety & quality standards Computer literacy email & MS Windows Forklift License will be advantageous Knowledge on CNC programming and operating will be advantageous Fusion welding of water-cooling pipes will be advantageous Basic welding skills Willing to work overtime when required
