Abattoir Technical Manager
Our client is South Africa's leading and most trusted free range supplier and they are looking for an Abattoir Technical Manager to join their team as soon as possible. This pivotal role is based in Grabouw and offers a unique chance to lead and influence technical strategies and food safety standards at strategic site level.
Duties & Responsibilities
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Lead the technical and food safety initiatives, ensuring the highest standards are met and maintained within a dynamic poultry processing environment.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement strategic technical and food safety plans to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Lead and mentor a team dedicated to maintaining and enhancing food quality and safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve processes and food safety and quality standards.
- Manage the day-to-day aspects of the site based technical functions and oversee the FSMS systems, ensuring they are effective and up to date.
- Ensure audit compliance with respect to internal, external, legal and customer requirements.
- Set and drive departmental KPIs and challenge improvement when required to ensure targets are achieved and improved.
- Ensure that our customers' Codes of Practice are adhered to and any changes are implemented and effectively communicated to the wider business.
Desired Experience & Qualification
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric.
- A minimum of a BSc in Food Science is essential.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Significant experience in a strategic site technical leadership role within the FMCG sector.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and drive technical excellence.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
