A Refrigeration Technician vacancy exists with an FMCG giant in the Western Cape . This role is critical in servicing, maintaining, and operating refrigeration plants to ensure minimal downtime, cost efficiency, and optimal energy usage. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting refrigeration equipment and systems, overhauling compressors, condensers, pumps, valves, and heat exchangers, and constructing small to medium-sized refrigeration plants. Key duties include maintaining cold storage rooms at specified temperatures, ensuring the seamless operation of ice plants and food processing freezers, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to minimize equipment downtime. The ideal candidate will hold an Artisan qualification with an industrial refrigeration trade test, although other trade qualifications may be considered with appropriate refrigeration training and experience. Certification to work in ammonia refrigeration plants is required, along with at least 7 years of experience in ammonia systems and 5 years in Freon systems, including air conditioning services and installations. Proficiency in planned maintenance systems, a solid understanding of electrical control circuits, and familiarity with food processing freezers, ice plants, and slurry systems are essential.
